This privacy policy notice is for this website; and served by Chalice Well Trust, 85-89 Chilkwell Street, Glastonbury, Somerset BA6 8DD and governs the privacy of those who use it.

The purpose of this policy is to explain to you how we control, process, handle and protect your personal information while browsing or using this website, including your rights under current laws and regulations. If you do not agree to the following policy you may wish to cease viewing / using this website.

What personal data we collect and why we collect it


When visitors leave comments on the site we collect the data shown in the comments form, and also the visitor’s IP address and browser user agent string to help spam detection.

An anonymised string created from your email address (also called a hash) may be provided to the Gravatar service to see if you are using it. The Gravatar service privacy policy is available here: After approval of your comment, your profile picture is visible to the public in the context of your comment.


If you upload images to the website, you should avoid uploading images with embedded location data (EXIF GPS) included. Visitors to the website can download and extract any location data from images on the website.

We are exempt from registration in the ICO Data Protection Register because we are a not-for-profit organisation and only process information necessary;

Mailing List

Lawful basis: Consent

The reason we use this basis: To keep those subscribed to our mailing list up to date with news and events associated with our ‘Many Paths, One Source Festival’.

Data retention period: We will continue to process your information under this basis until you withdraw consent or it is determined your consent no longer exists.

Sharing your information: See the ‘Email marketing messages & subscription’ section below. We use an Email Marketing Service (EMS) Mailjet to manage our mailing list. Mailjet also help us ensure we:

  • Have proper consent before adding you to our mailing list
  • Always offer the option of unsubscribing in every communication
  • Do not continue to contact you once your consent is withdrawn

We do not share your information with any other third parties.

Email marketing messages & subscription

Under the GDPR we use the consent lawful basis for anyone subscribing to our newsletter or marketing mailing list. We only collect certain data about you, as detailed in the “Processing of your personal date” above. Any email marketing messages we send are done so through an EMS, email marketing service provider. An EMS is a third party service provider of software / applications that allows marketers to send out email marketing campaigns to a list of users.

Email marketing messages that we send may contain tracking beacons / tracked clickable links or similar server technologies in order to track subscriber activity within email marketing messages. Where used, such marketing messages may record a range of data such as; times, dates, I.P addresses, opens, clicks, forwards, geographic and demographic data. Such data, within its limitations will show the activity each subscriber made for that email campaign.

Any email marketing messages we send are in accordance with the GDPR and the PECR. We provide you with an easy method to withdraw your consent (unsubscribe) or manage your preferences / the information we hold about you at any time. Our EMS provider is; Mailjet. We hold the following information about you within our EMS system;

  • First name
  • Email address
  • P address
  • Subscription time & date
  • Emails sent to you by us
  • When emails sent to you by us are opened

Event Tickets

Lawful basis: Contract

The reason we use this basis: To fulfil ticket sales.

We process your information in the following ways: This website automatically fulfils any online event ticket purchases by emailing the purchaser the relevant e-ticket(s).

Data retention period: We shall continue to process your information until the contract between us ends or is terminated under any contract terms.

Sharing your information: We do not share your information regarding ticket sales with third parties

Event Details

Details of each of our events are displayed within the events pages of our website.

Some events only require the payment of garden admission. Where this is the case it will be stated within the event description e.g. Normal Admission Applies. There is no requirement to purchase garden admission in advance for such events, unless otherwise recommended within the event description, or advised by a member of Chalice Well staff.

Return, Refund and Cancellation Policy

Tickets for events and garden admission are non-refundable and non-transferable unless the event is cancelled by Chalice Well Trust.

Refunds will only be considered if an event is cancelled by the Chalice Well Trust or, in the case of garden admission purchased in advance, if the gardens are closed.

A cancellation or a no-show by an advertised performer constitutes a cancellation made by Chalice Well Trust.

Requests for refunds can be made by contacting Chalice Well Trust customer services.

Event/Garden Admission Booking Online

The purchaser will receive confirmation of payment by email.

Unless otherwise instructed within the event description, the purchaser will receive an email with the e-ticket within the body of the email or as an attachment.

The purchaser is advised to bring a device displaying the e-ticket information or a print off the email/e-ticket to the event/garden as proof of purchase.

Event/Garden Admission Booking by Telephone/Post

The purchaser will receive confirmation of payment by post, in the form of a credit/debit card receipt and/or ticket(s), within 14 days of the date Chalice Well Trust receive the booking request.

If an email address has been provided by the purchaser, they will receive an email with the e-ticket within the body of the email or as an attachment.

The purchaser is advised to bring a device displaying the e-ticket information or a print off the email/e-ticket to the event/garden as proof of purchase.

Your individual rights

Under the GDPR your rights are as follows. You can read more about your rights in details here;

  • the right to restrict processing;
  • the right to data portability;
  • the right to object; and
  • the right not to be subject to automated decision-making including profiling.

We handle subject access requests in accordance with the GDPR.


If you leave a comment, the comment and its metadata are retained indefinitely. This is so we can recognise and approve any follow-up comments automatically instead of holding them in a moderation queue.

For users that register on our website (if any), we also store the personal information they provide in their user profile. All users can see, edit, or delete their personal information at any time (except they cannot change their username). Website administrators can also see and edit that information.

What rights you have over your data

If you have an account on this site, or have left comments, you can request to receive an exported file of the personal data we hold about you, including any data you have provided to us. You can also request that we erase any personal data we hold about you. This does not include any data we are obliged to keep for administrative, legal, or security purposes.
