In this workshop you will make your own special Mala from semi-precious stones which are said to purify the mind and clear away obstacles.

This half day workshop is also available in the afternoon.

Buddhist prayer beads or malas are a traditional tool used to count the number of times a mantra is recited, or breaths whilst meditating. These mantras can be recited for different purposes linked to working with mind. Buddhist tradition counts the beads at 108, signifying the mortal desires of mankind.

The material used to make the beads can vary according to the purpose of the mantras used. The option is to make a simple single strand 108 bead mala or a more intricate knotted mala.

Vanessa Poulton is a jewellery designer who has supplied the Chalice Well Shop for many years. Vanessa will be sharing the techniques of making a knotted bead mala for those who specifically wish to learn how to do this.

The workshop includes all materials to make a simple 108 bead mala, using either wooden beads or semi-precious stones (see tickets for pricing).
